ALBERT [Q:]
Chris, what is ezinearticles.com
about, why
is it so successful, and what are the key ingredients?
CHRIS
[A:]
EzineArticles.com is a
matching service that helps email newsletter publishers and
webmasters looking for supplemental content relating to their
niche to find articles that will add value to their audience
while simultaneously giving the author free exposure to a
qualified audience.
It's successful because of the rich-depth of the expertise from
our 29,000+ expert authors and our team's fanatical
attention to our members from an author support & speed
perspective. Also helps that all 200,000+ articles within
the website project have all been hand-approved to ensure
that they meet or exceed our 5 pages of editorial guidelines.
EzineArticles.com is not a one-man show, but
rather there is a management team behind this project including
talented web developers and very efficient editors. We're
committed to building systems that supports all of the
stakeholders involved in the project, and by doing so, we can
scale without losing a quality focus along the way.
ALBERT [Q:]
Chris when and how did you come up with this great idea?
CHRIS
[A:]
Actually, I didn't come up with the original idea as the site
was purchased many years ago; but in August of 2004 our team and
I dumped the entire project and rebuilt everything from scratch
in a new model that is pretty much what you see today yet.
ALBERT [Q:]
Was there a particular reason that
you chose this avenue of online business?
CHRIS
[A:]
Is Having Fun a
good reason? :-) Yes.
I always wanted to be a rock-star and perform in front of
millions of people, but I didn't have the talent for that career
possibility.
With article writing & marketing, I'm able to reach and
positively impact millions of people every month; some by
helping via providing the platform to gain access to specialized
knowledge and some by being the catalyst through which they can
share their expertise and gain access to a qualified audience
they might not have had access to.
ALBERT [Q:]
I know writing articles is probably the most effective
way to promote your online business or web site. But for the
sake
of my subscribers (newbies) can you please explain how an article
submission can actually benefit your business.
CHRIS
[A:]
I'm going to over-simplify it to make it easy to digest:
1) You write short articles, 250-700 words that share
your expertise or knowledge.
2) At the bottom of your articles is a "RESOURCE BOX"
where you list a small bio and pitch for your business, your
website, or whatever you want the reader to do after they are
looking for more resources on the topic you wrote about.
3) You syndicate or distribute your articles to sites
that accept them, such as us.
4) Ezine publishers, webmasters, bloggers and other
content seekers come looking for supplemental content they can
use to add value to their thousands, tens of thousands, hundreds
of thousands or millions of members. They get the content for
free and you, as the writer of the content, get exposure to
their audience.
End result: The article writers gets qualified traffic to their
website for years to come...for FREE. The only cost is
your time to write quality short original articles and
submit/syndicate them.
ALBERT [Q:]
Chris, most people who have started an online business have
failed because they don't really understand the importance of
advertising
for their online business. What is your advice to them?
CHRIS
[A:]
Article writing & marketing, like advertising, should never be a
one-shot thing. It's something you do over-and-over-and-over
again and build it into your business model.
In the long haul, many authors even find it to cost less than
traditional online advertising...so much so, that they hire
writers to help them crank up the volume to further enhance the
results.
Yes, 10-50 articles is nice, but you should see the results that
can be possible with 500-5000 articles put into syndication.
Best advice I can give: 1-10 articles is not enough. Write,
submit and track the results from 50-100 articles before
determining if this strategy is right for you.
ALBERT [Q:]
Can you tell us a little bit about your digital
products
(eBook) Article Production Strategies & Market With Articles.
http://shop.ezinearticles.com/articleproduction/
CHRIS
[A:]
I wrote & produced the "Article Production Strategies" guide
because I noticed about 86% of our authors had no problem
getting started in article marketing activities; but the real
spoils, in terms of massive gobs of qualified visitors and
targeted traffic coming back to the authors website mainly went
to the top 14% of our authors who submitted more than 11
articles.
The guide's purpose is to help bridge the gap and give the
expert some base guidelines, strategies, insider-tips and
secrets to help save them 3-6 months worth of struggle trying to
make article marketing pay off for them.
ALBERT [Q:]
If you can say what the most
important aspect of establishing
your online business is, what would it be and why?
CHRIS
[A:]
Having a plan and then hiring great people to help you execute
that plan. Doing it all on your own is worse than having a
'job'.
ALBERT [Q:]
When you were first starting out Chris, who
were your mentors and what did you learn from them?
CHRIS
[A:]
Tony Robbins of La Jolla, California helped me focus my energy
and launch into massive action.
Jay Abraham of LA, California helped me prioritize the building
of profit pillars.
Dan Sullivan of Toronto helped me leverage my unique abilities
and to surround myself with other executives who had
complementary unique talents.
ALBERT [Q:]
What do you feel was the greatest
difficulty
you faced when starting up your online business?
CHRIS
[A:]
Getting everything done without the support of a
full team.
ALBERT [Q:]
Everybody makes mistakes in the beginning. What were the
worst mistakes you made that prevented you from generating a
profit
and what did you learn from it?
CHRIS
[A:]
Thinking I could become the best at every job function required
to make the business run. Today, I know my role as the
entrepreneur business-builder and not the 'manager' or 'do
everything guy'.
ALBERT [Q:]
What are your future plans? Will you set up
new businesses or write ebooks? Any big projects?
CHRIS
[A:] Even though
this is my 14th year in business, I'm just getting warmed up.
Several new ebooks are already being produced concurrently by
myself, a few with co-author experts in various article writing
& ezine publishing niches and three large scale projects that
are better kept quiet till launched.
ALBERT [Q:]
What do you see as some of the biggest challenges
facing online businesses over the next couple of years?
CHRIS
[A:]
Wow, excellent question!
Every online business person's
challenge is completely related to where they are at personally
within their business startup to maturity cycle. The tools and
strategies may change, but the underlying business-basics &
principles are just the same as any offline business... which
means, your future challenges are based on overcoming your own
business incompetence more so than overcoming online marketing
impossibilities.
There are many industry threats or challenges that netpreneurs
face in the coming years, such as the rising negative impact of
email spam, the rising competitive pressure of a larger
population of competitors online who will eat your customer base
for lunch, the impact of clients wanting to interact with you
via IM (Instant Messaging), digital rights management is a major
issue that threatens sales, managing piracy in far away lands,
and keeping JV or affiliate partners motivated in the face of a
high volume of opportunity fighting for a small number of super
affiliates that control a large amount of net influence.
ALBERT [Q:]
Before we say goodbye, can you tell us what has been the
most rewarding experience of your Online Business career and
why?
CHRIS
[A:]
When our authors or clients tell me that because of the
platform, tools or training that we provided them -- that it
helped them to achieve their goals or exceeded their wildest
expectations; then I know we've succeeded.
ALBERT [Q:]
For our final thought, what advice would you have
for our faithful readers & subscribers who are starting out with
their own online business?
CHRIS
[A:]
Don't wait. Get a plan together. Take action, Do it. Better to
be taking massive action and failing than not taking enough
action. Set goals. Track your metrics. What gets measured, gets
managed. Learn and soak up the training programs that can shave
months or years off your learning curve; but at a certain point
you must stop active learning and then leap into massive action.
Lastly, failure doesn't exist... You only fail when you cease
trying.
For those venturing into using articles to help build their
exposure level, I will leave your readers with one strong piece
of advice: Be original and only write/submit original articles
that you either personally wrote or have an exclusive right to
the content. Never engage in PLR (private label rights)
articles or other tactics that can quickly dilute your
credibility. Be original. The world rewards originality and it's
your ticket to content longevity on the web.
ALBERT

PPC advertising consider writing an article first with your web
site link at the bottom (Resources Box) and submit it to
Ezinearticles.com.
Take advantage of their traffic and like
Chris said," Don't stop with just 10 articles make it a habit
that every time you write an article make sure you submit it to
Ezinearticles.com.
I promise you by doing this you'll save money with your ad
campaign and at the same time drive target traffic to your site.
To Mr. Christopher Knight, we've been very fortunate to have you
in this interview. Our questions were answered profoundly,
precise and genuine. This will definitely serve as a guide to
our faithful readers and subscribers. Chris we can't thank you
